Andorra is preparing to issue a €2 commemorative coin in 2024 to celebrate 100 years of skiing in the country.
Skiing in Andorra began in 1924, when postman Miquel Farré replaced snowshoes with skis to deliver mail faster. This innovation inspired other residents of the country and contributed to the popularization of skiing
The release of this commemorative coin highlights the importance of skiing for the culture and tourism of Andorra, which is famous for its ski resorts and offers a variety of ski slopes
The inside of the coin will depict the legs of a skier moving across the snow, with a flying snow effect. The diagonal will indicate the name of the issuing country and the year of issue - 2024. The outer ring will be decorated with 12 EU stars.
The coin is presented in a luxurious, numbered plastic blister.
