Paris Monet has released a coin collection, In honor of the 80th anniversary of D-DAY – Landing in Normandy, dedicated to the soldiers of the four main Allies. This series of coins tells the story of four destinies of French commandos, British airborne troops, and American and Canadian infantry. The D-Day landings were the amphibious assault on the German occupation forces of the United States, Great Britain, Canada and their allies that took place on June 6, 1944, in Normandy during World War II.
The set includes 4 coins:
French troops and Sword Beach,
Canadian troops and Juno Beach,
British troops and Pegasus Bridge,
US troops and Omaha Beach.
The reverse of these coins depicts in a spiral all the Allied powers that took part in the landings on land, at sea or in the air. The stars beneath the flags are also a tribute to the Freedom Trail, which marks the route of the 3rd American Army to liberate France.
