The official Austrian Euro coin set 2020 is a collector's set of eight coins in BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) condition, ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros. These coins have been carefully hand-minted, have never been used in circulation and are excellent examples for collectors.
The set includes coins of all denominations from 1 cent to 2 euros, each dedicated to important historical and cultural events that took place in Austria at different times.
The 2020 euro coin set is dedicated to an important and tragic anniversary - the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the liberation of the concentration camps. The cover of the set depicts the Stairs of Death at Mauthausen, a reminder of the systematic extermination of Jews and other minorities in the Nazi death camps. This symbolic element on the cover is a reminder of the Holocaust and the importance of preserving the memory of these terrible events. In 1945, with the defeat of the German Reich, the terror of the National Socialists ended. This also meant the rebirth of Austria as an independent state. However, for many years, the country was left with the painful memory of the victims of the Holocaust and the millions of people who were exterminated for anti-Semitic and racist reasons. The introduction of the coin set is connected with the idea of the importance of protecting peace and democratic values. Although peace seems obvious to us, it must be protected by advocating respect, solidarity and opposing violence and racism. The set reminds us that the memory of the past must be used to strengthen fundamental democratic rights and protect them in the future.
