The central place on the obverse is occupied by the image of the Easter chick, which hatches from an egg. This symbolizes a new beginning and resurrection, which is directly related to the holiday of Easter, celebrated by Christians as the day of the resurrection of Jesus.
Around the chick are symbols of spring - a butterfly and flowers that welcome this season of awakening of nature.
On the reverse side of the coin are depicted the coats of arms of the nine federal states of Austria. In the center is the number 5, which indicates the denomination of the coin. The outer circle of the coin is surrounded by the inscription "Republik Österreich" (Republic of Austria) and the word "EURO". The nine-sided shape of the coin reflects the nine federal states of Austria.
