The Austria 3 Euro coin is the first coin in a series dedicated to dinosaurs. This series was issued to draw attention to these amazing and long-extinct creatures, as well as to introduce collectors to the characteristics of each dinosaur species.
Description of the coin:
The obverse of the coin depicts a spinosaurus, one of the most famous and largest carnivorous dinosaurs. The spinosaurus had a distinctive crocodile-like skull, as well as a unique structure on its back known as a "sail". This sail may have been used as a stabilizer when running fast, as well as for thermoregulation. The spinosaurus was also adapted to life in an aquatic environment, which explains its special body shape and short hind legs. It could hunt in bodies of water using its huge claws. The coin is called SPINOSAURUS and the year of issue is 2019.
The reverse side of all coins in this series is the same. The image of the dinosaur that is part of the series is shown here, as well as the country name Republik Österreich (Republic of Austria) and the face value of the coin - 3 euros.
