The 2 euro coin issued by Andorra in 2020 is dedicated to the XXVII Ibero-American Summit. This summit, which brings together heads of state and government of Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries, was first held in Mexico in 1991. Currently, 22 countries participate in the summit, and Andorra became a member in 2004.
The Ibero-American Summit serves as a platform for discussing current development issues in Latin American countries, such as poverty, migration and democracy. The motto of the XXVII Summit is “Innovation for Sustainable Development – Goal 2030” - highlighting the desire for sustainable development and cooperation among the participating countries.
The obverse of the coin depicts an abstract tree made up of human silhouettes and gears. The silhouettes symbolize the integration of society, culture and education, while the gears represent the synergy of the ideas of the summit participants. Along the edge of the disc is written "XXVII CIMERA IBEROAMERICANA ANDORRA 2020", indicating the number of the summit and the year of issue of the coin
The coin is presented in a luxurious numbered plastic blister and has a mintage of only 3,500 pieces.
