On 10 December 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which has become an important document in the field of human rights protection. The UDHR consists of 30 articles covering civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights45. The document is not legally binding, but serves as a basis for the creation of international standards and treaties, and has inspired national constitutions and human rights organizations around the world, such as Amnesty International.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the UDHR, Andorra issued a special 2-euro coin. The obverse of the coin depicts a tree with 30 leaves, symbolizing the articles of the Declaration. Around the tree is written: “70 Anys de la Declaracio Universal dels drets Humans” (70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights).
The coin is presented in a luxurious numbered plastic blister.
