Radio and television in Andorra have a relatively short but interesting history.
At the end of 1989, Radio and Television of Andorra (RTVA), which is a public broadcasting company, was founded. There are no well-known commercial TV channels in Andorra, and RTVA has become the leading producer of information for the public.
The first radio broadcasts took place in 1990/1991, and the first television broadcasts took place in 1995.
Radio amateurs have been allowed to broadcast legally for a longer period, their callsigns starting with C31. 2016 is the 25th anniversary of the first public signals transmitted from Andorra.
To mark this event, Andorra issued a special coin with a denomination of 2 euros
